A wife. A mom. An athlete.
My journey to health and wellness has been one plagued with ups and downs until I finally decided I had had enough and was finally ready for change. In 2010 after visiting my mom and dad for the holidays, my mom sent some pictures. The minute I saw myself and what I had allowed to happen to my body I was embarrassed, angry, frustrated, sad, but most of all I was DETERMINED. Determined that I would NEVER see myself that way again. This was the day I began my journey to a whole new life--January 1, 2011. I began exercising, counting calories and the pounds began melting away. I joined a gym and found a love for kickboxing and zumba. I had dreams. Dreams of doing something great. I checked a book out of our library about triathlons. I dreamed of a 2012 triathlon. I trained on an old mountain bike and completed my very first sprint tri in July 2012. Three days later I found out baby #3 was on the way! Training was postponed. But for the very best reason possible! 6 weeks after #3 was born I bought a road bike and hit the roads as determined as ever to continue on my journey. I completed my second sprint tri in July 2013. I was so proud as I crossed the finishline I yelled out a triumphant cheer! My journey is not complete. So many chapters not yet written. What is next you ask? Well I have signed up for my very first half marathon with my sweet hubby. We will celebrate 15 years of marriage by running 13.1 miles together!
