As a mom there are days when I have to be selfish and then there are days when I have to be selfless in order to get my workouts in. As I mentioned before I have three children--12,8, and 10 months old. It is so hard to find the time to exercise--especially when I have to do 2-3 hours worth of exercise. I have found that the only way to make my workouts happen is that some days I have to be selfish, and just go. Which sometimes means I go during dinner and the kids eat grilled cheese or peanut butter and jelly. Some days I have to set my alarm for 4:30 a.m. and creep quietly around the house using only the light from my phone to dress and tie my shoes. On these days I have to be selfless. I have to put my wants aside in order to get in my workouts. It is not always easy--but no matter when I get my workout in I am always happy I did it!
A few tips to make sure my workout happens whatever time of day it may be:
Lay out ALL your clothes the night before. Have your coffee ready to brew at the touch of a button. Commit to meeting another crazy friend at 5 a.m. That way you know someone is waiting on you to get out of bed! Have your hydration and food needs set out the night before. Basically make it as easy as possible to get out the door!
